Why are we getting new energy labels?
The new energy label will be used to demonstrate a clearer distinction between technologically advanced household appliances. Electrical appliances are becoming increasingly energy-efficient, resulting in many appliances currently being labeled as A+++, A++, or A+. With the new rescaling of the labels, fewer appliances will receive the highest A label, allowing for more room to accommodate future technological advancements in appliances.
There is no easy way or rule to transition from the current labels to the new labels. The new labels are based on a new testing method for appliances. It's possible that an A+++ appliance may receive a new label of B or even E. This doesn't mean that the appliance suddenly becomes less energy-efficient. The energy efficiency and performance of the product remain the same; it's only the label that is changing.
What will change for me?
If you soon purchase a new dishwasher, washing machine, or other household appliance, you may discover 2 energy labels in the packaging, introducing you to the new label.
It's possible that the new energy label indicates a different or lower score than the old label. This doesn't mean that your product is less energy-efficient. The product remains the same; it's only the label that is changing.
