We strive for a climate-neutral shopping experience. That’s why we have set ambitious goals to reduce our emissions. We are currently validating our objectives with the Science Based Targets Initiative. This initiative scientifically aligns companies with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Most of our emissions arise from the products we sell: from production and transport to usage and the end-of-life phase, including emissions during recycling or reuse. As a retailer, we leverage our scale to reduce the CO2 emissions of our company and our customers. We are making agreements with suppliers for more sustainable production and increasing the share of sustainable products in our range. We achieve this under our BetterWay label.
For products that have a more sustainable character within their category, we use the BetterWay label. Learn more about BetterWay.
MediaMarkt is committed to offering products and services that extend the lifespan of products, such as repairs and the option for trade-ins. This allows products or materials to have a second life. We also ensure responsible processing of electronic waste.
Additionally, Ceconomy, the parent company of MediaMarkt, has signed the EU Sustainable Consumption Pledge. This sets clear objectives for our suppliers: by 2027, 80% of them must have established their own CO2 reduction targets in line with the Paris Agreement. Our aim is also to include at least 6,000 unique products with the BetterWay label in our range by 2026.
