Service Description
Mediamarkt.be is an online store for consumer electronics. Consumers can search for, compare, and purchase electronic products and related services such as delivery, installation, or extended warranties. They also broker contracts for telecom and energy supplies.

Applicable Requirements
The accessibility requirements are based on the Belgian law of 19 July 2018 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public bodies, as well as the European Accessibility Act (European Accessibility Act – Directive (EU) 2019/882), which has been in force in Belgium since 2025.

The specific technical measures comply with the EN 301 549 standard, which is recognized as an accessibility standard in Belgium, and are based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, with conformity levels A and AA, as required by Belgian law, including the law of 19 July 2018 and the European Accessibility Act.

Shopping on mediamarkt.be
Mediamarkt.be meets the aforementioned legal requirements for an accessible user experience. It is possible to conclude contracts in an accessible way via mediamarkt.be. Users can search for products and services, create shopping carts, place orders, and complete payment processes.

For questions or advice, accessible customer service is available via email, phone, and contact form. Essential information such as product descriptions, prices, and delivery options are available in clear language and a structured format.

Accessibility of mediamarkt.be
The accessibility of mediamarkt.be has been implemented according to the standards mentioned above.

The following options are available for an accessible user experience on mediamarkt.be:

  • Navigating the webshop using only the keyboard
  • Visibility of focus indicators
  • Readability of text elements with screen readers
  • Ability to individually adjust the font
  • Use of sufficient color contrast
  • Alt text for product-related images
  • Ability to pause videos
  • No content with rapidly flashing images
  • Use of descriptive page titles and clear navigation structures
  • Clear explanation of input errors and support for correction
  • Compatibility with all common browsers
  • Use of semantic HTML structures and ARIA roles
  • Videos published after June 28, 2025, will have subtitles
  • Documents available for download after June 28, 2025, will be offered in an accessible format

The following points can still be improved for an accessible user experience on mediamarkt.be:

  • We are currently experiencing occasional issues with screen readers freezing on the home screen and on campaign pages. In such a case, the user can manually switch to the next element. The problem should be resolved with future (flutter) updates that are expected to be implemented over the next three months.
  • We are still seeing some navigation problems and issues with horizontal use (landscape mode) on a vertical screen. Our colleagues are working on a solution for this issue.
