The main difference between the AirPods Max and the AirPods Max 2 lies in the chip. The first generation uses the H1 chip, while the AirPods Max 2 are equipped with the newer H2 chip for improved audio processing. Active Noise Cancelling and Adaptive Audio

New is Adaptive Audio. This feature automatically adjusts the balance between noise cancelling and Transparency mode based on your surroundings. With Conversation Awareness, the AirPods Max 2 automatically lower the volume when you start talking and let in more ambient sound, so you can have a conversation without taking off your headphones. Once your conversation has finished, the volume returns to its previous level. In addition, the AirPods Max 2 support Live Translation via Apple Intelligence, allowing you to hold a conversation even when you don’t speak the same language.

The AirPods Max 2 support Bluetooth 5.3, while the original AirPods Max use Bluetooth 5.0.
