Spring is here, and so is the sun! At least, that’s what we hope – in Belgium you never know. In any case, it’s always nice to start the new season with a fresh, spring clean home. That does take a bit of planning, because your house will have built up quite a lot of dust over winter. So, roll up your sleeves and get started on your spring clean. With MediaMarkt you can give your home a thorough clean in 5 steps.

1. Goodbye dirt: vacuum and mop your home thoroughly

The first step in your big spring clean? Thoroughly dusting, vacuuming and mopping every room in your home. If you have carpets, you’ll know they can really attract dust. But don’t worry, a powerful vacuum cleaner literally wipes the floor with dust, fluff, cat and dog hair and all that other unwanted dirt. After vacuuming, go straight over your floors with a mop to make them shine like never before. Did you know there are also vacuum cleaners that let you vacuum and mop? That’s 2 birds with one stone!

2. Give your kitchen a proper deep clean

One room that really takes a beating every day is your kitchen. And because you often work with food there, it’s best to give it a thorough clean during your spring clean to remove bacteria. Wipe down your hob and worktop, clean your fridge, defrost your freezer and clean your oven and microwave. Don’t forget to give your smaller kitchen appliances some TLC too, so they last longer. You can descale your kettle and coffee machine and clean appliances like your toaster, food processor and air fryer.

3. Freshen up your bedding and clothes

Now that your winter outfits can go back in the wardrobe for another year, it’s the ideal moment to give your clothes a fresh wash first. That way they’re neatly ready for the next winter season. Your bedding could probably do with a good wash as well. From your duvet cover, pillowcase and sheet to your duvet and pillow: put them all in the washing machine and then in the dryer. That way you can store them away nice and fresh. Just make sure you choose the right washing and drying programme, so you don’t ruin your favourite clothes and bedding.

4. Make sure your workspace is tidy

Now that many of us are working from home more often, our screens see a lot more action too. Before you know it, there are greasy fingerprints on your computer screen and a fine layer of dust on your tablet. Of course you can dust your screens, but they definitely deserve some extra attention. With a special screen cleaner and a soft cloth you can easily clean all your screens without scratching them: from your computer, laptop and tablet to your TV and even your smartphone. That way you’ll see your colleagues extra clearly in your next online meeting.

5. Finally, don’t forget the windows

Your spring clean isn’t complete until you’ve given your windows a good wash, because they have a tougher time over winter than you might think. All that rain, wind and sometimes even snow leaves its mark. You can clean your windows with a bucket of water and a squeegee, but there are also plenty of handy glass cleaners on the market that make the job much easier. With a window vacuum you can clean your windows streak‑free in no time, and you also avoid splashing water everywhere. All done – you’re now ready to enjoy a beautiful spring view!
