CAT6A U/FTP slimline datacenter ethernet cables have a smaller diameter than regular CAT 6A patch cables (3.8mm versus 5.9mm) and a smaller bending radius, which allows for better airflow in the network cabinet/server rack. There are also 32 AWG patch cables available, which offer higher attenuation, especially at high frequencies. ACT recommends limiting the maximum bundle size in PoE applications to 24 cables to prevent excessive temperature rise. The ANSI TSB-184-A standard states that the temperature rise in the central cable of a bundle should not exceed 15 degrees Celsius above the ambient temperature.
