FAQWhat precautions should be taken when installing the smart meter?
The smart meter does not need to be connected to a power source separately. After connecting via the power cable, you can measure the voltage. After connecting to the current transformer, you can measure the current. The Smart Meter calculates the power value based on the recorded voltage and current and sends the result via WLAN to the Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus.
When installing the Smart Meter, the following precautions must be observed, otherwise the self-consumption mode will not work correctly:
1. the Smart Meter measures the total electricity consumption of the household. Ensure that you install the current transformer on the main line on the household's electricity grid access side, not on the household's electricity distribution branch.
2. the phases for measuring voltage and current must match.
3. the arrow on the current transformer must point towards "grid" and the current transformer must not be installed upside down.
Who is responsible for installing the smart meter, the electrician or the grid operator?
When installing your Anker SOLIX Smart Meter, you must follow the safety regulations and installation instructions to ensure that all connections are safe and reliable. If you are not familiar with electrical installation, we strongly recommend seeking the help of a professional electrician. The electrician has the necessary knowledge and experience to guarantee the safety and correctness of the installation. Incorrect installation can lead to damage to the device, electrical malfunctions, and even injuries. Therefore, install the smart meter carefully for your safety and the proper functioning of the device.
Does the Smart Meter require internet access or does it need to be installed in areas with an internet connection?
The Smart Meter communicates with the Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus via WLAN and therefore must be installed in areas with an internet connection. The communication between the Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus and the Smart Meter takes place via a LAN (Local Area Network), and both devices must be connected to the same LAN during network configuration. Otherwise, the operation of the self-consumption mode may be impaired. Example: If one device is connected to a router and the other device to a mobile hotspot, the Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus and the Smart Meter cannot communicate with each other.
Notes:
1. if possible, do not place the Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus and the Smart Meter further than 10 meters from the router. Also, ensure that there are as few obstacles and walls between them as possible to guarantee a strong WLAN signal. You can also add additional repeaters for a stronger signal.
2. check if the router uses 2.4 GHz communication, as the Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus and the Smart Meter do not support 5 GHz WLAN.
How can the operation of the Smart Meter be checked?
The Smart Meter has no display to check performance directly. Instead, you can create a "home system" in the Anker app and check performance on the home screen.
Can the Smart Meter be connected to multiple Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus devices simultaneously?
No, the Smart Meter can only communicate with one Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus device.
Which devices does the Anker SOLIX Smart Meter work with?
Currently, the Anker SOLIX Smart Meter only supports working with one Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus device, not communicating with two or more Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus devices. If you want to use multiple Solarbank 2 E1600 Pro/Plus devices, you need to install a Smart Meter for each device.
The Anker SOLIX Smart Meter also does not work with other microinverters and energy storage products, including the Solarbank E1600, MI80 microinverters, and other microinverters from Deye, APsystems, and Hoymiles.
