The story takes place, as the title of the film suggests, in Los Angeles and deals with corruption within the local police force and the glamour of Hollywood in the year 1953. In the first part of the film, we are introduced to three completely different police officers who all become involved in the investigation of the murder of a former colleague. When it eventually turns out that the alleged perpetrators are not the killers, a mysterious plot gradually unravels that takes an unexpected turn.Not for nothing did LA Confidential receive two Oscars in 1997 (best screenplay, best supporting actress) because the film is captivating from beginning to end with a cast that excels.
