During a road trip through the remote areas of Texas, five young people pick up a traumatized hitchhiker, who shoots himself dead in their van. Shocked by the suicide, the group seeks help from the locals, but their situation becomes even more surreal when they knock on the door of a remote farm. It soon becomes clear that the inhabitants are a family of inbred psychopaths, and the unfortunate young people suddenly have to run for their lives. Hot on their heels is a disfigured, chainsaw-wielding cannibal known as Leatherface.
