Enzo and Jacques knew each other from their hometown, when diving was already their passion. One day, Jacques' father dies while diving. Years later, Jacques is tested by scientists who discover that his body reacts like a dolphin's when he dives into ice-cold water. Johanna, present at the experiments, falls for the mysterious dolphin-man and follows him to Italy. Enzo, now world champion diver, has challenged Jacques to a competition, knowing that he is the only diver in the world who could beat him. In this competition, the men push the boundaries of what is humanly possible, and Jacques finally finds a home.
