From SCART to HDMI means: from analog to digital

Transmitting signals from a SCART connection to an HDMI input - is that possible? The two AV interfaces don't really match. A digital interface like HDMI cannot handle analog Scart audio and video signals. But there are ways to overcome the barrier between analog and digital technology: Scart to HDMI converter!

Although HDMI is the standard today, an older device may need to be connected to a more modern TV. For example, you might want to play old VHS tapes with a video recorder, or you want to be nostalgic and connect your first PlayStation to a flat-screen TV. Due to the incompatibility between analog and digital transmission, a mechanical-electrical adapter is not sufficient to transmit video from Scart to HDMI. Instead, a real converter is needed that first converts the analog signal from the player into digital data.

The big advantage of the Scart interface is that it supports various analog transmission paths, such as composite video. On the other hand, Scart cannot handle digital transmission methods. HDMI has now largely replaced Scart. This applies, for example, to playback devices such as DVD and Blu-ray players, but also to modern LED TVs. There is no longer an integrated analog interface.
