Three half-sisters, with three different fathers, wonder at the approaching death of their mother: 'Where do we stand in life? What do we still have with each other?' And especially: 'What to do later with our autistic brother John?'

When the seriously ill mother of April, May and June realizes she doesn't have long to live, she calls her daughters home. She cannot leave this life with peace of mind until she knows that her son Jan will be well taken care of. But faced with the question, it soon becomes apparent that all three consider themselves unfit. In the process, the sisters find that they have become quite estranged from each other and their brother in recent years. The four of them will have to get to know each other again if they are to support each other in the difficult time ahead.
