The Personal History Of David Copperfield is based on the world famous novel by Charles Dickens. Set in the nineteenth century, the film tells the life story of young David Copperfield (Dev Patel). After being thrown out of the house by his stepfather, David finds himself, from one adventure to another, meeting the most eccentric characters of Victorian England such as his extravagant Aunt Betsy (Tilda Swinton). His journey leads him from rags to riches and back again, but the studious Copperfield braves both fortune and adversity with his head held high.
