Because IMF agent Ethan Hunt is suspected in the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, the U.S. President initiates the so-called "Ghost Protocol": any connection to the ultra-secret agency and its men is severed and any involvement denied. Without any resources or support, Ethan must find a way to clear the agency's name and prevent another attack. To make matters worse, he is forced to embark on his mission with some IMF colleagues whose personal motives are not always clear.
