and submarine is attacked by a huge creature previously thought to be extinct. The submarine now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific Ocean with the crew still on board. As time begins to run out, expert deep-sea diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing).
