2026 is expected to be one of the busiest years for gaming ever. Big names such as GTA, Resident Evil, Forza and Pokémon are returning, complemented by various new games from well-known developers. Discover the biggest game releases of the year listed here.

GTA VI

Grand Theft Auto is back with part 6! GTA 6 will be released on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game is set in Vice City, familiar from earlier GTA titles, and the surrounding area. You follow 2 main characters: Lucia and Jason, a close-knit duo who carry out robberies together and try to escape the violence and drug trade around them. Lucia is the first female protagonist in years: clever, determined and out on parole. Jason is her loyal and level-headed partner. Together, they form a modern Bonnie and Clyde, with Lucia drawing up the plans and Jason putting them into action.

Pokémon Pokopia

Following the success of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Nintendo is releasing a new cosy sim: Pokémon Pokopia. In this adventure, you awaken as Ditto in the ruins of an abandoned Pokémon Centre, take on a human form and set out into the world. Together with Professor Tangrowth, you discover that both humans and Pokémon have vanished without a trace, leaving the world deserted. It’s up to you to bring your surroundings back to life: you attract Pokémon by shaping the world and deploy them to build, gather resources and more. Pokémon Pokopia will be released on 5 March 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.

Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil fans can prepare for a new chapter: with Resident Evil: Requiem, Capcom is releasing the ninth main instalment in the iconic survival horror series. You step into the shoes of Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst and daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a survivor of Raccoon City. She is investigating a mysterious case in the hotel where her mother lost her life. As Grace uncovers a web of lies and experiments, fan favourite Leon S. Kennedy also appears to investigate the disappearance of an agent. Expect intense horror with Grace and classic action with Leon. Resident Evil: Requiem was released on 27 February 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S.

Marvel's Wolverine

Are you captivated by Marvel superheroes and villains? Marvel’s Wolverine delivers a brand-new story about Logan’s dark past, in which he goes in search of the truth. You’ll travel to various locations, from Tokyo to the fictional Madripoor, and every place you visit soon turns into a battlefield. With razor-sharp claws and driven by rage, you’ll fight your way through the game’s story. Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled for release in autumn 2026 and will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5.

Forza Horizon 6

Forza Horizon 6 is the latest instalment in Playground Games’ racing series and is set in Japan. You start out as a tourist in Tokyo and work your way up to rookie of the Horizon Festival, while exploring the country and filling your Collection Journal. In this game, you drive more than 550 real cars, including much-loved JDM classics, with improved engine sounds and more realistic steering animations. On your drives you collect Forza Edition cars with extreme mods, discover rare Aftermarket Cars and take part in Touge Battles against legends of the Horizon Festival. Forza Horizon 6 released on 19 May 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. A PlayStation 5 version will follow later in the year.

The Blood of Dawnwalker

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first instalment in a new RPG saga from Rebel Wolves. You find yourself in a dark open world full of bloody conflicts, while the Black Death makes survival even harder. You play as Coen, a young man who has been transformed into a Dawnwalker: human by day, vampire by night. Will you choose to hold on to your humanity, or surrender to your cursed powers to save your family? Depending on the time of day, you have access to different abilities: at night you wield vampiric powers, while during the day you rely on spells and conversations to gather information. There is no exact release date yet, but the game is scheduled for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

007: First Light

In 007: First Light, you step into the shoes of James Bond and discover how a young, brilliant but reckless rookie grows into the world’s most famous secret agent. Hone your espionage skills, replay fan-favourite missions with a twist and hunt down a rogue agent who keeps outsmarting you. Travel to diverse locations, take the wheel of iconic vehicles and immerse yourself in a gripping spy adventure. 007: First Light released on 27 May 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Pragmata

After almost six years of waiting, Pragmata is finally being released. This sci-fi action-adventure centres on astronaut Hugh and android Diana, who originates from the mysterious Lunafilament, a substance capable of replicating anything. After a lunar base goes offline and Hugh is stranded during his mission, the 2 of them try to find their way back to Earth. The game combines third-person shooting with a hacking mechanic. As you traverse a dystopian world and solve puzzles, you’ll use Diana’s AI-driven abilities to expose your opponents. Pragmata will be released on 24 April 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam takes Hershel Layton and his apprentice Luke to Steam Bison, a city in the midst of a steam-powered boom. There, they investigate the mystery surrounding the ghost of gunslinger Gunman Joe, who warns against all technological progress. Is it a real spirit, or is something else going on? That’s for you to find out. You’ll explore the city, talk to residents and tackle a wide range of puzzles, from riddles and brainteasers to maths problems. Expect a cosy game with no hectic action and a strong focus on puzzle-solving. The game is scheduled for release in 2026 and will be available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, although there is no exact release date yet.

Crimson Desert

It’s been a long time coming, but Crimson Desert is finally on its way. Step into the shoes of Kliff and make your way through an open world with action-packed combat reminiscent of fighting games. Wield your sword, use grappling moves and string together combos to take down your enemies. Crimson Desert is packed with boss fights that each require a different approach to defeat. That means you’ll constantly need to keep an eye on your stamina and play tactically. Crimson Desert is released on 19 March 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Phantom Blade Zero

Unlock new weapons and skills and decide for yourself how you want to fight. Phantom Blade Zero will be released on 9 September 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Get ready for a new LEGO Batman adventure in Gotham City. In this open-world game, you play as the Dark Knight and follow his journey from would-be hero to protector of Gotham. Along the way, you team up with Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing. You’ll also cross paths with iconic villains such as The Joker, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Mr Freeze and Bane.   • STAR WARS Zero Company. Lead an elite squad in this tactical single-player turn-based game with a gripping story set in the final days of the Clone Wars. Launching in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

  • Control Resonant. Manhattan is on the brink of collapse due to a supernatural nightmare. Play as Dylan Faden and use his special powers in an intense action-adventure RPG where you fight for his humanity and the fate of the world. Releasing in 2026 for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Reanimal. From the studio behind Little Nightmares 1 and 2 comes an even darker adventure, in which a brother and sister travel through a nightmarish world to rescue their missing friends and escape the island. Released on 13 February 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S.

  • DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined. Travel with your party beyond the borders of your kingdom and unravel ancient secrets to discover why this is the last island in the world. Released on 5 February 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
  • The Duskbloods. From the makers of Elden Ring comes a gothic multiplayer game in which up to eight players, as Bloodsworn vampires, battle to be the first to claim ‘First Blood’ in an arena with battle royale elements. Releasing in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.

  • Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Create Mii characters, develop your island and look after your residents in this hilarious cosy game with a twist. Releasing on 16 April 2026 for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved. This remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is now fully in HD, with improved controls, online co-op for four players, three new missions and an expanded arsenal of weapons, vehicles and enemies. Releasing in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
