iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro and 17 Pro models are very similar in terms of their basic design. Both generations have an aluminium unibody and are available as a Pro model with a 6.3-inch display and a larger Pro Max model with a 6.9-inch display. The back is made from Ceramic Shield, while the stronger Ceramic Shield 2 protects the display on the front. Both generations also feature the Action button and Camera Control on the side. The wide camera plateau on the back houses the 3 cameras and remains unchanged between the iPhone 17 series and 18 series. There are some differences, however. The Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro is smaller than on the 17 Pro and can display up to 3 Live Activities at the same time. While the dimensions remain the same across the Pro and Pro Max models, the weight increases from 206 to 211 grams for the Pro and from 233 to 249 grams for the Pro Max.

Four smartphones stand together in silver, white, orange and navy; one device shows a dark screen with a glowing abstract shape.

The colours also differ between generations. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are available in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue and Silver, with Cosmic Orange standing out in particular. The anodised aluminium gives this bright, metallic orange shade an even more vibrant appearance. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are available in Burgundy, Glacier, Black and Silver. Burgundy is the more distinctive colour this time, with its deep wine-red shade and purple undertones.

The chips in the iPhone 18 Pro and 17 Pro

Two silver squares compare Apple chips: “A19 PRO” appears on the left and “A20 PRO” on the right, against black.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max have an A20 Pro chip, just like the iPhone Duo, compared with the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. The A20 Pro delivers up to 40% faster graphics performance, helping demanding games run more smoothly, for example. The chip also has a more powerful Neural Engine, a component specifically designed to process AI tasks faster. This means Apple Intelligence features, such as automatically removing objects from photos and writing or editing text, work faster.
