When will the iPhone 18 be released?

You can pre-order the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max from MediaMarkt from 2.00 p.m. on 12 September 2026. The official release follows on 18 September 2026. From that date, the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will be available. The standard iPhone 18 will follow later. The information on this page is based on advice from MediaMarkt experts.

Colour and design of the iPhone 18

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are available in 4 colours: Black, Silver, Glacier and the new Burgundy, a deep wine-red colour. Both models feature Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, an extra-strong layer of glass that protects the screen against scratches and damage, as well as an aluminium frame. Dynamic Island, the interactive area at the top of the screen for notifications and ongoing activities, has also been updated. On the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, it can display up to 3 Live Activities at the same time, so you can see more information at a glance.

The main design difference between the 2 models is their size. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with high contrast, vivid colours and plenty of detail. The iPhone 18 Pro Max has the same type of display, but in a larger 6.9-inch size. The Pro Max is 9 mm thick and weighs 240 grams.

The iPhone 18’s chip

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max both feature the A20 Pro chip, just like the foldable iPhone Duo. It has a 6-core CPU, allowing the iPhones to process multiple tasks quickly and run demanding apps and games smoothly. 2 of the CPU’s 6 cores are powerful Super Core, which provide extra processing power when needed to handle demanding tasks even faster. The 7-core GPU also delivers fast graphics performance and supports ray tracing for more realistic lighting and reflections in games and 3D apps.

For AI tasks, the A20 Pro has a powerful Neural Engine: a part of the chip designed specifically to process AI tasks faster. With Apple Intelligence, you can use it to remove objects from photos, find information in your emails, photos and notes faster, and write or edit text.

Apple Intelligence is integrated into iOS 27 and helps you with various tasks on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. You can edit photos afterwards with features such as Clean Up, which removes distracting objects, and extend a photo beyond its original borders with Extend. With Image Playground, you can create images based on a description, whether you want an illustration, a realistic image or even a personalised emoji. In Safari, Notify Me can monitor web pages for you and alert you when, for example, a price changes or a product becomes available again.

Apple Intelligence also works with various apps on your iPhone. During a phone call, Conversational Context can automatically show relevant information from other apps, such as a confirmation code from Mail when you call an airline. You can also create Shortcuts simply by describing what you want to automate. Apple Intelligence then links the necessary actions across different apps, helping you complete recurring tasks faster.

What is the battery life of the iPhone 18?

The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max extends this to 45 hours. When streaming video, battery life is up to 33 and 40 hours respectively. Both models support fast charging: with a suitable adapter, you can charge the battery to 50% in around 15 minutes. Wireless charging is possible through MagSafe, which charges the battery to 50% in 30 minutes.

The camera of the iPhone 18

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have 48 MP cameras: a main camera, ultra-wide camera and telephoto camera. For the first time, the 48MP Fusion Main camera has an adjustable aperture. This lets you control how much light the camera lets in and how much of the foreground and background is in focus. The camera can adjust the aperture automatically based on the lighting conditions, but you can also choose from 4 settings yourself. This gives you more control over the exposure and depth of your photos.

With the new Pro controls, you can also adjust the aperture, shutter speed and white balance yourself. The main camera also has a new sensor for sharper details and better photos in the dark. When recording video, you can apply Cinematic effects to footage at up to 60 fps afterwards and record time-lapse videos in 4K.
