Where do you place your combination detector?

A combination detector is a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in one. Smoke rises and carbon monoxide spreads through the air. Because of this difference, there is no perfect place for the combination detector, but it depends entirely on your situation. In the Netherlands, it is legally required to have a smoke detector on every floor and in enclosed spaces through which an escape route runs. In Belgium, it is legally required to have smoke detectors on every floor. In Flanders you must install at least one smoke detector per floor; in Wallonia this is also required, but if the surface area is larger than 80 m², two smoke detectors must be placed.

In addition, we advise you to optimize the safety in your home by installing combination detectors, smoke detectors and/or carbon monoxide detectors in strategic locations:

• Rooms with combustion appliances: Place carbon monoxide alarms or combination detectors in every room where combustion appliances are located, such as central heating boilers, gas heaters, boilers or fireplaces. These devices can emit carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless and potentially deadly gas. A CO alarm near these appliances provides a quick warning in the event of a dangerous build-up of carbon monoxide, so you can act in time.
• Escape routes: Place smoke detectors or combination detectors in hallways and near stairs, especially if they lead to bedrooms. This ensures that smoke is detected quickly and you can respond in time.

• Within reach of interconnected group: Aroha Link detectors have a transmission range of up to 100 meters without obstacles, such as walls, doors and ceilings. Make sure that the Aroha Link detectors are within each other's range so that they can give a synchronous alarm.
• Locations to avoid: Avoid smoke detectors or combination detectors in rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms and garages, to prevent false alarms.
