14 years after the events of the first volume, a lot has changed for Jake and Neytiri, who have since found their place in the Pandora rainforest they can call home. Together, the two have three Na'vi children and an adopted fourth human child named Spider. Jake and Neytiri do everything they can to keep this family together, but when they are once again threatened by RDA miners, they are forced to leave their home. Thus, they find themselves in a completely different environment near a reef, where the Metkayina clan lives. However, this environment does not come without danger, especially when it turns out that Jake and Neytiri's family find themselves in a culture they are unfamiliar with.
