Ten-year-old Misa flees to her grandmother in Lapland. No television, but wilderness to look at. She ends up in a Nomad culture that firmly believes in life after death. There she befriends the Lap Gustaf. Misa develops a special bond with a beautiful wolf mother with two young wolves. When Gustaf's family discovers that deer have been killed, the wolves are hunted. Misa goes all out to save the wolves.

The young Norwegian girl Kim almost dies after falling down a slope. She finds shelter, but there she stumbles upon the shelter of a wolf and her puppy. When she discovers that three shepherds are planning to kill the wolves, she decides to take the animals across the Swedish border, where wolves are not hunted.

The story about Tinke is set in 1850. When the young shepherd Larus finds Tinke in the forest, she is soiled and afraid of humans. He gives her bread and milk and slowly he gains her trust. The farmer and farmer's wife for whom Larus works take her in. Since Tinke's father and mother are dead, everyone wonders where she came from. She still has a necklace from her mother and remembers her name, Martha.
