BS 483 - Body analysis scale
The BS 483 belongs to MEDISANA's latest generation of body analysis scales and therefore contains the latest technical gadgets which Medisana has developed through years of experience. The brushed stainless steel electrodes measure with extreme precision the electrical resistance through both feet and thus very precisely determine the fat and moisture percentage and calculate the muscle and bone mass. These features not only help you lose or maintain your weight, but are the perfect incentive to monitor the progression of a workout regimen. Whether you are at the right level with that weight relative to height, in turn, the BMI calculation shows. The calculation of your calorie requirement (BMR) gives you even more information and the BS 483 provides a very complete overview of your physical condition.
The BS 483 has the possibility to set 10 different user profiles. This allows the whole family to monitor their own fitness separately. Moreover, the BS 483 is user-friendly thanks to the step-on switch-on technology and automatic shut-off. The LCD screen makes the figures easy to read. This complete body analysis scale with sleek design is a real eye-catcher in your bathroom.
Perform body analysis
The body analysis is achieved by current flowing from one foot, through the body, to the other foot. To perform the body analysis, we do not recommend using it if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other medical implants. Please note that due to the use of medication, the indication of body fat and fluid percentage may be inaccurate or may not be measured. If the readings are outside the scale's measurement range, one of the following messages ERRL, ERRH or ERR2 will appear.
To perform body analysis, it is important to set and select the profile prior to weighing.
Calculating the BMI
The body analysis scale has a maximum load capacity, this varies by type of scale. All scales that calculate BMI (Body Mass Index) have a maximum measurement range of a BMI up to 32. If your BMI value is above this, the scale cannot measure it or do a body analysis. If the readings are above the measurement range, this is indicated by the message ERRL.
Initializing the scale
Always place the scale on a solid and level floor. When you first start weighing or you start weighing after moving the scale, it is important to initialize the scale. This causes the scale to zero in on itself and your weighing results will be more accurate. Initializing is done by briefly pressing your foot into the center of the top of the scale. This causes '0.0' to appear on the display. The scale then turns off automatically. After that, the scale is ready to weigh and you can step on it to calculate your weight and complete the body analysis.
