Terence Winter (screenwriter rewarded with an Emmy Awards® for the HBO series The Sopranos) and Martin Scorsese, the executive producer who already has several Oscars® to his name, together present Boardwalk Empire. Set in 1920s Atlantic City on the eve of Prohibition, this series tells the story of Enoch Thompson, or Nucky (Steve Busceme). His dual role as politician and bootlegger made him the undisputed ruler of the city in a century where the illegality of alcohol created a golden situation for bootleggers and vendors looking to enrich themselves. In a city known for its constituency politics and vicious power struggles, Nucky had to deal with numerous enemies: ranging from ambitious NCOs, to criminal arch-enemies, such as Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano or Al Capone, to irreconcilable federal agents but also his irresistible urge for women, money and power played tricks on him.
