A social worker attempts to raise her two children in Los Angeles in 1973. Over time, she notices disturbing similarities between a case she is working on and supernatural phenomena plaguing her family. She begins investigating the story of a Mexican folklore figure known as "La Llorona. This one is said to have once lost her children and now, wherever she goes, brings misfortune with her.
