In "The Dark Knight," the sequel to the blockbuster "Batman Begins," director Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale are reunited. Bale is again seen in this film in the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne, who, as always, fights crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (GARY OLDMAN) and prosecutor Harvey Dent (AARON ECKHART), Batman aims to eradicate organized crime in Gotham once and for all. This trio takes effective action, but they soon fall prey to an emerging mastermind, "The Joker" (HEATH LEDGER). He plunges Gotham into total anarchy, forcing the 'Dark Knight' to step further and further across the delicate line between hero and vigilante. Bruce Wayne's ex-girlfriend Rachel Dawes also plays a role again in the film. The role of Rachel in 'The Dark Knight' is played by Maggie Gyllenhaal and falls in love with prosecutor Harvey Dent.
