Where do you place your combination detector?

A combination detector is a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in one. Smoke rises and carbon monoxide spreads through the air. Because of this difference, there is no perfect place for the combination detector, but it depends entirely on your situation.

In the Netherlands, it is legally required to have a smoke detector on every floor and in enclosed spaces through which an escape route runs.
In Belgium, it is legally required to have smoke detectors on every floor. In Flanders you must install at least one smoke detector per floor; in Wallonia this is also required, but if the surface area is larger than 80 m², two smoke detectors must be placed.

In addition to complying with legal obligations, we advise you to optimize the safety in your home by installing combination detectors, smoke detectors and/or carbon monoxide detectors in strategic locations:

• Rooms with combustion appliances: Place carbon monoxide alarms or combination detectors in every room where combustion appliances are located, such as central heating boilers, gas heaters, boilers or fireplaces. These devices can emit carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless and potentially deadly gas. A CO alarm near these appliances ensures a quick warning in the event of a dangerous build-up of carbon monoxide, so you can act in time.
• Escape routes: Place smoke detectors or combination detectors in hallways and near stairs, especially if they lead to bedrooms. This ensures that smoke is detected quickly and you can react in time.

• Within range of 2.4 GHz WiFi network: Place your Aroha Smart Connect smoke detector within range of the 2.4 GHz WiFi network so that the detector can connect to the app. You do not have to be within range of the same WiFi network to receive notifications.
• Locations to avoid: Avoid smoke detectors or combination detectors in rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms and garages, to prevent false alarms.

Please note: This Aroha Smart Connect detector is a WiFi detector without mutual coupling. 2.4 GHz WiFi is required to connect the smart detector to the app. Would you prefer mutual coupling between multiple smoke, carbon monoxide and combination detectors, but without an app?
