In Star Wars- Episode I, The Phantom Menace we go back in time and see Darth Vader as a nine-year-old boy named Anakin Skywalker. He lives as a slave with his mother on the planet Tatooine. When Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) meets Anakin, he feels that this little boy possesses the powers of the Force and that he may well be the one who can bring peace to the Force. He therefore decides to do everything in his power to train Anakin as a Jedi knight. During this time, the galaxy is in turmoil. Senator Palpatine, an influential politician, is quietly increasing his power. Due to an incident, Palpatine becomes the center of a major conflict between the giant commercial trade federation and the small, peaceful planet of Naboo. Queen Amidala of Naboo is faced with a difficult choice. She decides to seek help from Jedi Master Qui-Gon and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).
