The computer hacker Neo (Keanu Reeves) finds out that life on Earth is nothing more than a computer simulation, set up by machines to control humanity. He is taken out of this "Matrix" by some freedom fighters, and together with them he begins a battle against the machines, to give humanity back its freedom.

The machines have found the location of Zion, the last human city. The only hope for the rebels is The Keymaker, a man with access to all the doors to the machine world. However, he is guarded by The Twins, a dreadlocked duo who can disappear and appear as ghosts. Agent Smith, meanwhile, can multiply like a virus in The Matrix, complicating the quest for Neo, Trinity and Morpheus.

While it is a matter of hours before the machines will invade Zion, Trinity and Morpheus must search for Neo, who is trapped in a world between the Matrix and the real world. As the battle between the machines and the inhabitants of Zion begins, Neo tries to deal with Agent Smith once and for all.

Neo is once again trapped in the world of the Matrix, but is unaware of it. He takes the blue pill and goes to a therapist. This changes when a man steps into Neo's life to make it clear to him that his reality is fake. His life turns out to be nothing more than a dreamscape.
